Position Summary
The Accounting Specialist is responsible for managing daily accounting operations in a fully remote work environment. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, timely transaction processing, and compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, self-motivated, and comfortable working independently in a virtual setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Accounts Payable
- Process vendor invoices electronically
- Verify coding and approvals using QuickBooks Online
- Prepare and issue electronic payments (EFT/ACH) for AP and Auction Settlements
- Reconcile vendor statements
- Maintain organized digital records
- Revenue & Online Auction Settlements
- Reconcile Auction Settlements (Chattels)
- Import and reconcile Auction Revenue in QuickBooks Online
- Manage credit card chargeback dispute process
- Maintain accurate customer records in accounting software
- Administrative and HR Support
- Assist with some limited HR functions
- Support administration of benefits and group retirement plans
- Assist with e-signing of documents
- Various other administrative duties as assigned
General Accounting
- Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations
- Prepare journal entries
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing
- Maintain general ledger integrity
- Reporting & Compliance
- Assist with US and Canadian sales tax filings
- Support external audits as needed
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls
Required Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 2–5 years of accounting experience
- Experience with cloud-based accounting systems such as:
- QuickBooks Online
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Ability to manage confidential information securely

- Comfortable using video conferencing and collaboration tools
