Position: Distillery Operator

 

Scope & Reporting: The Distillery Operator plays a crucial role in the distillery functions. Responsibilities encompass a wide range of tasks, from monitoring fermentation and distillation processes to the final distillate. The Distillery Operator will work as part of the distillation team and report directly to the Distillation Supervisor and functionally to the Distillery Director.

 

 Working hours: up to 50 hours per week in the off-production period and up to 60 hours per week during the production period

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Monitor and control fermentation process, yeast pitching, fermentation conditions, pot and column distillation parameters, and manage the by-products coming from the stills.
  • Ensure to operate by following the defined instructions with a particular focus on process efficiency and product quality.
  • Be able to operate both automatic control systems and manual systems for ensuring the best process consistency.
  • Perform basic analytical tests to ensure product quality and collaborate with Quality Department for improving product quality and process efficiency.
  • Execute all the cleaning and sanitization procedure with the aim to guarantee the hygienic conditions for all the equipment used and to prevent any risk of bacterial contamination.
  • Perform any other duties assigned as Distillery Operator.
  • Be able to move weights at 25Kg.
  • Be able to update the company’s IT systems used for tracking the performances of the operations.
  • Make basic statistical analysis and calculations with the aim to perform basic analyses on process performances and to adjust process parameters.

 

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:   Must have a previous experience in Distillation (2 years min) with a must have experience on column distillation. The knowledge of Pot Distillation will represent a plus. Must be able to lift and carry at least 25Kg while climbing stairs and do other physical activities. Also, individual must demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills and able to use a computer for process control and entry of data. Lastly, this position requires working on shift, during weekends and holidays during the distillation season.

 

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

A Degree in Science or Engineering or Chemical Engineering is strongly recommended also if other scientific Degree can be evaluated.
